What type of events do you play?
Our recent schedule has featured the following:  weddings, Sweet 16s, corporate parties, charitable events, Caribbean theme parties, birthday parties, anniversary parties, engagement parties, block parties and dance parties.  Approximately 40% of our 2008 bookings are weddings.  Within the wedding category, many of our events have been non-traditional events or those featuring a unique musical approach.  We are comfortable entertaining crowds ranging from children to seniors, and do perform at many such family functions with a wide range of participants!

ImageWhat is your geographic coverage area?
We serve all of New Jersey.  Much of our work is in Central NJ, Northern NJ and Bucks County / Philadelphia area.  We occasionally work in New York City and New York state.

How do you differentiate yourself from the multitude of competitors?
At events, we strive to provide a mix in the spirit of the client's vision heard over a clear sound system.  We know our music well and bring this musical taste to the dancefloor, finetuning the presentation to the taste of the crowd.  In terms of microphone presence, we make professional announcements and lightly entertain guests.  We are never intrusive or obnoxious.  We strive to be highly professional on the front-end (booking and planning) and at the event, arriving on time.  We encourage you to contact us with questions and concerns - and let us assist you. At weddings, we believe that the bride & groom should be the focal point, and not the DJ!  We believe that our rates are competitive to the market, and in fact publish them on our website! Should I choose a DJ or a band?
For a wedding, if you are considering hiring a band, you should keep in mind that a live musical group will typically cost several thousand dollars (versus $~750 for Ambient DJ Service) and that bands typically require breaks (Ambient provides continuous music).  A band's musical repertoire is not as deep as a disc jockey’s.  Bands do however offer numerous advantages such as that 'live band' sound and the ability to play extended versions of songs fit for the moment.  Ambient can play the original versions of classics that have survived the test of time over a rich sounding, high fidelity system.  Our CD players allow us to seamlessly loop and extend songs for any extended play dances which you may select (Conga Line, Cha-Cha Slide, etc.).

What kind of music do you play?
We bring approximately 10,000 songs (all on CDs) to your party, found across a spectrum of genres.  Each year, we spend several thousand dollars to continuously upgrade our music library. We have successfully performed at children's parties, teen hip hop dances, college semiformals, 30th birthday parties, silver and gold anniversary parties and more!  Your playlist is customizable to meet the needs of the party.  See Music Collection to see the genres of music that we stock, or Current Playlist to view some of our current party favorite songs.  For suggested wedding songs, see the Wedding Song List.  To get a taste of our music video capability, please view our Sample Music Videos.

A list of references relevant to your event can be provided upon request, including repeat clients. Included on the list are also references from professional DJs and musicians who entrusted Ambient DJ Service for their events.  E-mail This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it to request a reference list.  For testimonials Click Here »

ADJADo You Carry Backup Equipment?
We bring backup components for the key pieces of equipment in our setup (mixer, CD players, speakers, wires, microphone).  The young age of our systems reduces the potential for equipment failure.  Approximately 60% of equipment failure is related to wiring issues, and we bring lots of backup wiring.

Are You Insured?
Particularly for the finer wedding banquet facilities, liability insurance may be required.  Ambient carries liability insurance underwritten by the Fireman's Fund up to $1,000,000.  Proof of insurance can be provided upon request.

Can I See You Perform?
We do not allow guests for wedding receptions, in order to preserve the sanctity of the event.  For general parties, we allow guests, subject to the consent of the party host.  Seeing and hearing is believing!  For sample footage of a recent Ambient DJ wedding reception, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTegD9fWLBQ

How Far in Advance Should I book my event?  Our peak months are May - October, and December.  Saturdays in particular are in high demand.  We can sometimes accommodate last minute bookings, but in general we advise clients to book 3-6 months in advance; and even longer for wedding receptions in peak months (Saturdays in the summer are prime time!).

Are You a Member of Any Professional Organizations?
Yes, we are a member of the American DJ Association (ADJA).  The ADJA's aim is to promote high standards within the mobile disc jockey profession.  Information about the ADJA, as well as questions to ask when hiring a DJ, can be found at www.adja.org »

Are the Cocktail Hour and Wedding Ceremony Included in the Price?
Assuming that the cocktail hour is at the same facility as the wedding reception, the answer is 'yes'.  If as an example, the cocktail hour was downstairs, and the wedding reception was upstairs, we would use a smaller system for the cocktail hour.  Our primary system would remain upstairs.

For onsite ceremony music, we charge an additional $150.  This fee includes consultation on and preparation of appropriate music for your ceremony and the use of our wireless mic and microphone stand (if needed).  We do not currently offer wireless lapel microphones to be clipped on the various participants.
